Ramadan; Day 1/9/1438A.H
Assalamualikum wa rohmatullah wa barakaatuh.
All praises and adoration are due to Almighty Allah, the Lord of all creatures. We beseech Him to shower his blessings and mercy on the noble soul of our leader, perfect being, Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, his companion, his household and those that follows him till the day of Resurrection.
Alhamdulillah, what else can we servants of yours [Allah] says if not to be glorifying and thanking You [Allah] سبحان وتعالى for sparing our life from last Ramadan till this moment of year 1438A.H. It’s not by our will/power but by your grace with what you have been decreed. ALHAMDULILLAH.
Having taqwa is the utmost goal of everything in this life. Your fasting cannot be valid without you having consciousness of Allah. Taqwa is by you creating a barrier between you and Jahannam [Hell-fire]. So, how can we achieve that?
Taqwa is to abide with what Allah has commanded and abstain from what He has prohibited/forbidden. Therefore we can say that fasting builds Taqwa since by fasting one restrain/abstain himself from what has been forbidden and thus stayed far away from what can make him sin and earn Allah’s anger. All this shows that one is conscious of his Lord.
Take a moment and take a deep breathe, that this fasting is not for one race with different cultures, different tribes, different colors, different languages nor different size but for the generality of ummah who heard and obeyed their creator on one call with the same passion and one goal which is Jannah.
Taqwa is you hear and obey with sincere heart. Haven’t you heard of the people or nation that just use three or four hours for their own pleasure period(eating, drinking and intimate with their spouse)? This pleasure occurs under this minute hours because the rest of their hours were used for fasting [22/21/20] hours due to their weather conditions. SUBHANALLAH. Where is our taqwa?
Taqwa is secret wisdom behind fasting. And this fasting is one of the pillars of Islam. So whoever breaks his fast in the month of Ramadan without a valid Islamic excuse has use his hand to destroy one of the pillars of Islam and stepped into the realm of great danger. So beware of the do’s and don’t of fasting.
Fasting prevents a person from committing what Allah hates and it also protects him from His Majesty punishment.
If you are conscious of Allah and thus you can protect/prevent yourself from what is permissible for you [eating, drinking & sexual intercourse with your spouse[s]] for a short period of time [dawn-dusk], then you can absolutely prevent yourself from what is forbidden for you[lying, backbiting, gossiping, slandering, fornicating, foul language, et al.] both during the fasting period and out of the month of Ramadan. If we now see anybody that doesn’t understand or comprehend this, it is impossible for him to achieve anything from his fasting except thirst and hunger. Mind you the reward for fasting is in manifold awarded/rewarded by the Almighty Allah.
Allah سبحان الله says;
O you who believe! You are bound to observe fasting as those before you (- followers of the Prophets) were bound, so that you may guard against evil. Q2:183
Fasting has been made obligatory for all Muslims. It has thus become one of the five fundamentals of Islamic practice. The verse refers to fasting in general, and not the month of fasting.
Fasting is an exercise of self-discipline and has multiple purposes. It makes a person realize that if he can abstain from that which is otherwise accessible and available, he can abstain from the evil ways, which are forbidden by Allah.
Fasting has a powerful purifying effect on the mind and makes one realise through personal experience how it feels to be hungry and thirsty, and thus gain a real appreciation of the needs of the poor. It habituates a person to the suffering of tribulations and hardships; finally, it awakens a living consciousness of the existence of God, and it is an expression of love for the Creature.
Let us be conscious of Allah in this period and always. May Allah سبحان وتعالى see us via the month of Ramadan and reward all our endeavors in manifolds upon manifolds that will take us to Jannah.
